I want to apply for a job with the Borough but I have not seen an ad for any openings. Can I just fill out an application and leave it with my resume at the Borough Office?
The Borough of Nazareth does not accept applications and/or resumes when there are no advertised job openings. Also, following the receipt of applications for an opening that does exist and the awarding of the job, all applications are destroyed and not retained.

Do I need a "Moving Permit" when moving into or leaving the Borough?
The Borough of Nazareth does not require a permit when moving into a house or apartment within Borough limits. People moving into a residence within the Borough's metered zone may purchase a meter cover to reserve a parking spot during the moving process. I would like to voice a concern to Council and speak at a Borough meeting. What should I do?
Each Borough meeting has a portion reserved for citizen comments. You need not call ahead to address Council but only are required to go to the meeting and sign in. When the President asks for "comments from the floor", you can raise your hand and you will be allowed to speak within the usual five minute time limit.

I have seen ads for openings on the Borough Boards and Commissions. What are these groups and what do they do?
In addition to Council, Borough Boards and Commissions make up a large part of our government group and are the supporting committees which help with the governing of our town. The Planning Commission makes building decisions and recommendations about new development and proposed changes requested by contractors. Our Zoning Hearing Board rules on cases which do not conform to our Zoning Plan while the Borough's Civil Service Commission governs the entire process of hiring full time police officers, away from any outside or Council intervention. The Recreation Commission runs Nazareth Day and makes recommendations that involve the Borough's eleven parks. The Library Commission helps with the administration of our Library while the Ambulance Board oversees the Borough's only emergency transporter, the Nazareth Ambulance Corps. Delegates to the Nazareth Borough Municipal Authority monitor the Borough's sewer service and assist in plans for its future. If you are interested, watch for the ads each September...and volunteer!

Who do I call to request to use our Park?
If you wish to use the Park or any of our regional parks for an event, you will need to write a letter to the Borough Secretary with dates, times and specifics of what your event will involve. The Borough does not allow businesses to use the Park for events or programs which would bring them a profit but does allow charities and volunteer groups to have their fundraisers in any of our eleven parks. Each request is discussed and then ruled on by Council. Letters of permission or denial follow from the Borough Secretary. Send a letter preferably 45-60 days before the event to the; Borough of Nazareth,
ATTN: Borough Secretary, 134 S. Main Street, Nazareth, PA 18064.

Who takes care of tree problems and tree plantings in the Borough now that the Shade Tree Commission has been dissolved?
The Borough's Ecology Committee now handles all tree problems and planting requests in conjunction with our Public Works Department. Questions or requests can be left on this site for Councilman Charles Donello or you may call him at 484-274-2235.

I am planning to stage a benefit race through the Borough. What arrangements must I make?
You must first make a formal request to Council by letter with your proposed route, date of the race, time, and amount of police presence needed. Please include a rain date if one exists. A certificate of insurance must be presented.
